Founder & Principal
Luis Sanchez is a seasoned strategist and advocate with more than a decade of experience delivering results in California's most high-stakes policy and budget fights. As the founder of Sanchez Government Affairs, he brings a sharp understanding of the Capitol's inner workings and longstanding relationships with key decision-makers across the Legislature and Administration.
Luis has a proven record of securing funding in the state budget, shaping complex legislation to support innovation, and blocking proposals that threaten business investment and operations in California. His ability to navigate politically sensitive issues, anticipate challenges, and execute winning strategies has made him a trusted advisor to leading corporations, trade associations, and nonprofits.
Luis began his career in the Capitol, ultimately serving as Chief of Staff to Assembly leadership, where he oversaw both policy development and district operations. He also served as an in-house lobbyist at Blue Shield of California during the implementation of the Affordable Care Act, gaining critical insight into California's healthcare system.
Prior to launching Sanchez Government Affairs, Luis was a lead lobbyist at a well-respected Sacramento lobbying firm where he led advocacy efforts for clients in energy, healthcare, and regulated industries. Luis also has extensive experience in trade associations having previously served as a lead lobbyist for the Western States Petroleum Association where he successfully managed energy policies for the benefit of its members and the state.
A former Co-Chair of the California Latino Capitol Association, Luis remains committed to developing and mentoring the next generation of policy leaders. He holds a bachelor's degree in marketing from California State University, Sacramento. Luis lives in the Sacramento area with his wife, Heather, and two daughters.
